In TKS, a program I am in, I have learned about the world of artificial intelligence. During that time, or a brainpod as my program leaders call it, my teammates and I discussed the future of AI. Some examples were how it could affect the workspace and the future of this technology. However, I felt intrigued about how AI affects the job industry.
Artificial intelligence, or AI for short, is starting to hit the job market slowly as technology evolves. According to the Brookings Institution, “There are workers who lose out, particularly those directly displaced by the machines and those who must now compete with them.” An example is cashiers because as more restaurants implement more self-order kiosks, there won’t be a need for cashiers. Other examples include the automotive, pharmaceutical, and agricultural industries since AI technology would become more efficient than human labor. Finally, AI technology will affect some industries due to the future.
AI may affect specific jobs, but this modern technology could add more jobs to the market. These jobs can include AI managers, coders, technicians, etc. However, some employees may have to learn new techniques and skills to adapt to the future.
To conclude, AI will affect particular jobs and industries, but it could add more to the workforce because of the immense amount of possibilities it could serve.
